Losing someone close to you is never easy. When facing loss, many find comfort in keeping something personal close as a way to honour their memory. Memorial jewellery, also known as bereavement jewellery, offers a subtle, meaningful way to remember someone special.
Memorial jewellery is created to honour someone who has passed away. Each piece is deeply personal, often unique to the person wearing it.
Usually, it includes a feature that holds a special meaning to you and your loved one. It might hold a tiny amount of ashes or hair,, or a handwritten message. Sometimes, it may be more symbolic, using a birthstone, pressed flower, or traditional locket with their photo tucked inside. Others may request a custom engraving with a message of their choice..
Whatever form it takes, it’s a graceful, quiet way to pay homage to someone special.
As you can imagine, because each piece carries its own story, most memorial jewellery is bespoke. We understand that every journey through loss is different, so we take the time to design something that truly reflects the person you’re remembering.
There are no fixed rules about what your piece should include, but if you’d like some inspiration, many people choose:
If you’re unsure where to start, we’re always happy to help guide you through it. It can be useful to think about how you’d like to wear the piece. Some people want something close to them every day, while others prefer to keep it for quieter, more private moments. You might be drawn to something discreet, or a design that clearly reflects your loved one’s memory. Including a stone, a message, or a detail only you understand can make it feel deeply connected to your relationship with them.
Whatever feels right for you, we’re here to help bring it to life with care and thoughtfulness.
For some, including a loved one’s ashes in jewellery offers peace and comfort. It’s something to carry with them, rather than something kept on a shelf. It’s a modern way to celebrate someone’s life, turning remembrance into something you can hold close each day. If this is something you’re considering, it may help to understand how the process works.
When ashes are provided to us, they’re handled with the utmost care and respect from the moment that they arrive. Once we’ve discussed a design, we only need a small amount (often no more than a teaspoon).
Depending on the style, the ashes are either carefully sealed with resin, or placed into a secure compartment within the piece. Each method is secure and made to last.
You’ll be kept informed throughout, with clear communication at every stage. Each peace is crafted by hand in our workshop with the time and care it deserves.
Once again, there’s no one-size-fits-all when it comes to remembrance, but here are a few of our most requested memorial pieces:
While we don’t stock many pieces in store, we can order just the right remembrance jewellery for you from one of our suppliers. Most recently we ordered our popular cylinder bottle pendant and chain in 9ct yellow gold for a customer.
Memorial jewellery isn’t just about moving on. It’s about keeping someone with you in a way that feels personal. Not everyone wants a grand gesture. Sometimes it’s a quiet, subtle presence that brings the most comfort.
If you’re thinking about having something made in memory of someone important to you, we’re here when you’re ready. Visit us in store to chat with our team, explore bespoke possibilities for a new or existing piece, and create a meaningful jewellery item you’ll treasure forever.
